Dear Visitor,

A wonderful new bookcase for the Berne Elementary Library has been donated by Lorraine & Joe Florentine. It is an expression of Eileen's love for this school, this library and for literature. It will keep her spirit present through the donated books on its shelves. We hope these will be a special collection of hard cover titles that are the favorites of those who donate them. We also hope that many will have personal notes from the donor about why that book was donated or chosen or why it is special to them or thought to be especially valuable, or related to Eileen Hitter.

The “Books Donated” page will be updated as books are donated so that you can get ideas and also see whether your idea for a book has already been donated. (However, duplicates are fine especially with your inscription)

If you would simply like to sponsor a book and tell us the book you would like to donate we will be glad to do the actual shopping. Just e-mail with your choice at ReadToUs@nycap.rr.com. If you would like some suggested books please see our Book Ideas and related sites page.

Of course, monetary donations in Eileen's name to the BKW Elementary Library are still gratefully and enthusiastically being accepted (address at bottom of this page). They will be used for this and the outreach program which will bring fairy tales and nursery rhymes to three, four and five year olds in the district for years to come in her honor.

My entire family and I are so grateful for the support of the school's faculty and staff and the BKW community in helping us make our dreams for a memorial for my wife a reality.
