Early Literacy Project

When asked how to make a child a genius Albert Einstein is said to have replied, “He should read fairy tales, then he should read more fairy tales. And then he should read more fairy tales!”
This program will seek to bring nursery rhymes and fairy tales to all three, four and five year olds. It will utilize many different and creative ways to reach out and it will seek to enhance the effect of the wonderful Thousand Books Program already available to this community by promoting it and adding books and resources to it.

We hope to offer one on one and group read aloud opportunities. We hope to give pre-schoolers and Kindergartners books, poetry mailings and activities of their own and we hope to encourage and involve parents by providing demonstrations, videos and other resources in cooperation with PARP.

Our goal will be for every three through five year old to enjoy a poem or nursery rhyme every day starting in Berne, Knox and Westerlo.

... Much more information to come.
